Ideas for a Singapore Themed Party

Singapore is an extremely multicultural place, embracing people and cultures from China, India, Malaysia and further afield. If your local takeaway can cope with more than one style of cooking, maybe you could order a selection of dishes and drinks to reflect the multicultural diversity of the city state.

Singapore Party Decorations

  • Decorate yourself and your room with Singaporean flags and scarves (see links, right)
  • If you're serving food, search for red and white table covers, napkins, plates, cups and cutlery on our General Party Decorations Page
  • For bunting, flags, balloons and more Singaporean Party Decorations Ideas, visit our Asian Flags & Decorations Page
  • As for other party decorations, anything in red and white will be good

Food for a Singapore Themed Party

Food in Singapore pretty much reflects the country's culture; it's a great melting pot of different cuisines! There's a big Malaysian influence of course, and Chinese and Southern Indian foods are hugely popular too, but as Singapore is such a cosmopolitan city, influences from all over the world can be seen. Singaporean food is pretty much the original Asian fusion food! Noodles are hugely popular, and noodle dishes are always available and varied, but rice is also very popular.

If you are ordering in, you can therefore get away with ordering Chinese, Indian, Malaysian or whatever. Or why not try some of the following recipes yourself:

Drink for a Singaporean Party

The obvious drinks choices for a Singapore-themed party are either a Singapore Sling Cocktail or a Tiger Beer , Singapore's "official" beer. Actually, I have to say that an ice cold Tiger beer does go rather well with a big bowl of Singapore-style noodles!

For a less obvious choice, coffee is popular in Singapore, but tends to be very sweet, often made with sweetened condensed milk and served either hot or chilled over ice.
